DUTY CYCLES OF Y2 THREE PHASE MOTOR

 

S1 Continuous Duty

Operation with a steady load for as long as it takes the machine to achieve thermal equilibrium.

S2 Short-Time Duty

Operation with a steady load for an insufficient amount of time to enable the machine to achieve thermal equilibrium. The machine's idle time is sufficient to enable it to cool to room temperature. Short-term operation typically lasts 10, 30, 60, and 90 minutes.

S3 Intermittent Periodic Duty

Operation in predetermined cycles while subjected to a continuous, repeating load. For the motor to achieve thermal equilibrium, neither the operating nor the resting periods are sufficiently extended. The initial losses are negligible and have little effect on the temperature increase. At a daily 10-minute cycle, the notional relative starting time values are 15, 25, 40, and 60%.

S4 Intermittent Periodic Duty

Operation in predetermined cycles while subjected to a continuous, repeating load. The motor's start has an impact on the temperature increase.

S5 Intermittent Periodic Duty

Similar to S4 operation, with the exception that the machine's electronic braking significantly affects the rise in temperature.

S6 Continuously Operation With Cyclic Load

Operation that is made up of an ongoing sequence of equal cycles. Every cycle has a fixed load time and is uploaded. The machine cannot reach thermal equilibrium in a single cycle due to the short cycle duration. The relative starting time needs to be supplied in order to specify S6 operation.

S7 Intermittent Periodic Duty with Pole Changing

Only pole amplitude modulated motors are capable of this kind of action. In this instance, each pole's definition of operation must include the following information:

- Inertia constant

- Number of starts per hour

- The relative duration of operation
